Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Bowserly ("we", "us", "the app") handles your information. Bowserly helps you find the cheapest nearby fuel. We built it to do that one job well — and to collect as little about you as possible.

In short: we use your location only to show you nearby fuel prices and directions. We don't require an account, we don't track you across other apps, and we don't sell your data.

Information we use

Location. With your permission, we use your device's approximate or precise location to find fuel stations near you and to calculate distances. You can also search by suburb or postcode instead of granting location access.
App requests. When you view nearby prices, your location coordinates and chosen fuel type are sent to our backend service so it can return the relevant stations. These requests are used to fulfil your search and are not tied to your identity.
Local settings. Preferences such as your last-used fuel type and recently cached prices are stored on your device so the app works quickly and offline.

What we do not collect

No account, name, email or password is required to use the app.
No payment details, contacts, photos or microphone access.
No advertising identifiers and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.

How your information is used

To show nearby fuel stations and prices for your selected fuel type.
To sort and filter results by price and distance.
To hand off to your maps app when you request directions to a station.
To keep the app fast and usable offline via on-device caching.

Third-party services

Bowserly relies on a small number of service providers to function:

Google Maps Platform displays the map and pins. Your use of the map is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Firebase (Cloud Functions) acts as our secure server-side proxy to official government fuel-price feeds, so credentials are never shipped inside the app.
Official state and territory fuel-price feeds provide the underlying price data (for example NSW FuelCheck, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS and NT schemes).

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Data retention

Cached prices and preferences live on your device and are cleared when you uninstall the app or clear its data. Backend requests are processed to return results and are not used to build a profile of you.

Children's privacy

Bowserly is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You can grant or revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
You can clear cached data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
